  1. Day 1: Pyramids of Giza, Sphinx & the Grand Egyptian Museum
Welcome to Cairo! Your Egyptologist meets you at your hotel and you drive straight to the Giza plateau. Pyramids of Giza Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure, with a photo stop at the panoramic viewpoint. Your first stop is the legendary Giza Plateau, home to the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the Pyramid of Khafre and the Pyramid of Menkaure. Great Pyramid of Khufu The Great Pyramid was constructed during Egypt's 4th Dynasty for Pharaoh Khufu. For thousands of years it was the tallest monumental structure in the world and remains the only surviving wonder of the traditional Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Your Egyptologist will explain the pyramid's construction, purpose, religious symbolism and the remarkable organization required to build such an enormous monument. Pyramid of Khafre Continue to the Pyramid of Khafre, which still preserves some of its original smooth limestone casing near the top. The pyramid is closely associated with the Great Sphinx and forms part of an impressive royal funerary complex. Pyramid of Menkaure See the Pyramid of Menkaure, the smallest of the three main pyramids at Giza. Together, the three pyramids demonstrate the architectural ambition and engineering capabilities of ancient Egypt's Old Kingdom. The Great Sphinx & Valley Temple The guardian of the plateau and the granite temple beside it. Continue to the Great Sphinx, one of Egypt's most recognizable monuments. The colossal statue combines the body of a lion with a human head and is traditionally associated with royal authority and protection. Your guide will explain the Sphinx's symbolism and its relationship to the Giza pyramid complex. Optional Lunch After exploring the pyramids, you can enjoy an optional lunch at a local restaurant. Choose according to your preference between local Egyptian and other dining options. Papyrus & Traditional Egyptian Crafts Continue your experience with a visit where you can learn about traditional papyrus production and discover how ancient Egyptians created one of the world's earliest writing materials. You may also learn about traditional Egyptian perfumes. Grand Egyptian Museum The grand staircase, the colossus of Ramses II and the Tutankhamun collection. The world's largest archaeological museum dedicated to a single civilization. It features thousands of priceless artifacts, including the complete treasures of Tutankhamun and the impressive Grand Staircase lined with monumental statues. Optional Egyptian Museum in Cairo Continue to downtown Cairo and Tahrir Square to visit the Egyptian Museum. The museum houses one of the world's great collections of ancient Egyptian antiquities. Among its most famous treasures are the spectacular objects associated with King Tutankhamun, together with royal mummies and countless artifacts spanning thousands of years of Egyptian history. Your Egyptologist guide will help you understand the historical importance of the collections and the civilization that created them. After the tour return to your Cairo hotel. Overnight Cairo hotel

  2. Day 2: Alexandria on the Mediterranean
A full day on the coast. Early start for the drive north to Egypt's second city. Discover Egypt's Mediterranean City After breakfast, depart Cairo by private air-conditioned vehicle for a full-day excursion to Alexandria. The journey takes you from Egypt's modern capital toward the Mediterranean coast. Alexandria was founded by Alexander the Great in 331 BC and developed into one of the most important cities of the ancient Mediterranean. It became famous for scholarship, science, literature and maritime trade. Today, Alexandria combines ancient archaeological remains with a lively modern Mediterranean atmosphere. Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa Begin your Alexandria sightseeing with the Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa. This fascinating underground necropolis reflects the mixture of Egyptian, Greek and Roman cultural influences that characterized ancient Alexandria. The tomb complex contains chambers, corridors and architectural elements reflecting different traditions. Your guide will explain how Alexandria's multicultural population influenced its art and funerary architecture. Pompey's Pillar Continue to Pompey's Pillar, one of Alexandria's most recognizable ancient monuments. The enormous red granite column stands among the archaeological remains of the ancient city. Despite its popular name, the column was not actually erected in honor of Pompey. Your Egyptologist will explain its true historical background and its connection with the Roman period of Alexandria. Citadel of Qaitbay Continue along the Mediterranean waterfront to the Citadel of Qaitbay. The fortress occupies a strategic location on the eastern harbor and was built in the 15th century by Sultan Qaitbay. The site is traditionally associated with the location of the ancient Pharos Lighthouse, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The citadel provides excellent views of the Mediterranean and Alexandria's historic harbor. Bibliotheca Alexandrina Continue to the area of the modern Bibliotheca Alexandrina, created as a modern tribute to Alexandria's legendary ancient library. The ancient Library of Alexandria became one of the most famous centers of scholarship in the ancient world. The modern library represents Alexandria's continuing association with knowledge, education and culture. Depending on opening times and the selected ticket, an interior visit may be arranged. Alexandria Corniche Enjoy some time along Alexandria's Mediterranean Corniche. Take in the sea views and experience the atmosphere of one of Egypt's most famous coastal cities. Optional Seafood Lunch Enjoy an optional lunch at a local restaurant. Alexandria is particularly well known for its seafood, and a seafood lunch overlooking or near the Mediterranean can be a memorable addition to the day. Vegetarian options can also be arranged. Return to Cairo After completing your Alexandria sightseeing, drive back to Cairo by private vehicle. Overnight Cairo hotel

The birth of the pyramid. A full day south of Cairo through the oldest royal necropolis in Egypt. Step Pyramid of Djoser at Saqqara The first monumental stone building ever raised. Continue south to Saqqara, one of Egypt's most important archaeological areas. Saqqara served as the principal necropolis of Memphis and contains monuments representing many periods of Egyptian history. Step Pyramid of Djoser Discover the famous Step Pyramid of Djoser, built during the 3rd Dynasty. The monument is considered a major milestone in Egyptian architecture because it represents one of the earliest large-scale pyramid structures and an important stage in the evolution of royal tombs. Learn about the architect Imhotep and the development of monumental stone construction. Depending on the selected entrance tickets and site conditions, additional tombs and monuments may be visited. Memphis open-air museum The colossal Ramses II statue and the alabaster sphinx. Continue to Memphis, the ancient capital of Egypt. The city was one of the country's most important political and religious centers and played a major role throughout ancient Egyptian history. Before You Travel to Egypt

A quick checklist for a smoother arrival and more comfortable sightseeing.

Choose the season that suits you

October to April is usually more comfortable for long sightseeing days. Summer can be very hot, especially in Luxor and Aswan, so plan lighter schedules, shade and water breaks.

Check entry rules before you fly

Visa eligibility depends on your passport and can change. Confirm your requirements through Egypt’s official e-Visa portal or the nearest Egyptian embassy before travel.

Carry Egyptian Pounds

Cards are useful at many hotels and larger businesses, but small EGP notes are practical for tips, small purchases and everyday services.

Use sealed bottled water

Drink sealed bottled water and keep extra water with you during sightseeing, particularly on warm days and longer excursions.

Dress for heat and local customs

Light, breathable clothing, comfortable shoes, sun protection and a light layer are useful. Modest clothing is respectful at mosques, churches and traditional communities.

Know when to bargain

Friendly bargaining is common in bazaars and souks. Prices in fixed-price shops, hotels, restaurants and official ticket offices are generally not negotiated.

Check Egypt’s official e-Visa portal
